19th CENTURY PAINTED CEILING IN TEYLERS MUSEUM, HAARLEM
Conservation of the wall and ceiling paintings of the monumental staircase at the oldest museum of The Netherlands: the Teylers Museum in Haarlem.
A conservation treatment was carried out to stabilise the decorative surfaces, enhance the aesthetic appearance and prevent further deterioration. A preliminary paint research was carried out to analyze the original colours of the walls. This original colour scheme was applied on the walls by the museum's in house painter.
This project was selected for the Shildersvakprijs - an annual prize for the best restoration project which concerns decorative interior painting
