19th CENTURY INTERIOR ~
THE HAGUE
Architectural paint research carried out in a late 19th-century building (now used as an office) to determine the original appearance of the interior. To achieve this, the following research methods were used: documentary and archival research; stratigraphic paint research; microscopic analysis of paint samples. The modern paint layers were (locally) mechanically removed to uncover the original 19th-century paint scheme. In collaboration with an architect (BuRO 030) 3D interior reconstructions were created, as well as suggestions how to incorporate the results of the paint research in a modern day office environment. The results were presented in an expert meeting and documented in a treatment report.
