19th CENTURY PAINTED CEILING IN A CANAL HOUSE IN AMSTERDAM
In the spring of 2020, a wall painting was discovered in the course of construction work in a 17th century house. A thick package of paint layers obscured a beautiful floral Art Nouveau ceiling painting. I was commissioned to (mechanically) remove the layers of overpaint and restore the underlying painting. Structural and superficial cracks were filled, loose fragments were consolidated, losses and fills were retouched and the missing areas of the painting were reconstructed.
